Mother's Day - Preschool Storytime

Books
Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother Too?, by Eric Carle
Monkey Puzzle, by Julia Donaldson
Mommy, Where Are You?, by Leonid Gore

Songs/Action Rhymes

A Gift for Mommy

I want to get a gift for Mommy
For this Mother’s day
Let me think, what could I find?
I don’t have money to pay!

I know she likes some fancy shoes
I bet she’d like them blue!

Maybe a fancy, party ring?
A lovely purple one could be the thing!

A mug for the coffee she likes to drink?
I know she likes the color pink!

Or a purse to carry all her stuff
A red one might be big enough!

An orange scarf, fresh and light,
With white polka dots, could be right!

I know what I can give to Mommy
I know that this won’t miss!

I’ll tell her, “Mommy, I love you”
With a great big hug and kiss!

M-O-M-M-Y
(sung to B-I-N-G-O)
I love her and she loves me
And mommy is her name-o
M-O-M-M-Y, M-O-M-M-Y, M-O-M-M-Y
And mommy is her name-o

Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
Three little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said:
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
Two little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said:
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
One little monkey jumping on the bed
He fell off and bumped his head
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said:
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
No little monkeys jumping on the bed
None fell off and bumped his head
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said
Put those monkeys back in bed!

If You're Going to the Moon
Tune of "If you're happy and you know it"
If you're going to the moon, wear your boots (stomp stomp)
If you're going to the moon, wear your boots (stomp stomp)
If you're going to the moon, this is what you have to do,
If you're going to the moon, wear your boots (stomp stomp)
If you're going to the moon, wear your gloves (clap your hands)
If you're going to the moon, wear your gloves (clap your hand)
If you're going to the moon, this is what you have to do,
If you're going to the moon, wear your gloves (clap your hands)
If you're going to the moon, wear your helmet (point to your head)
If you're going to the moon, wear your helmet (point to your head)
If you're going to the moon, this is what you have to do,
If you're going to the moon, wear your helmet (point to your head)
If you're going to the moon, shout blast off
If you're going to the moon, shout blast off
If you're going to the moon, this is what you have to do,
If you're going to the moon, shout blast off

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Twinkle twinkle little star (open and close hands to make 'twinkling stars' with fingers)
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high (circle arms over head)
Like a diamond in the sky (make a diamond shape with fingers)
Twinkle twinkly little star (open and close hands to make 'twinkling stars' with fingers)
How I wonder what you are

I'm a Little Astronaut
Tune:  “I’m A Little Teapot”
I’m a little astronaut
Flying to the moon.
My rocket is ready,
We blast off soon.
I climb aboard
And close the hatch.
5-4-3-2-1, off we blast!

We're Flying into Space
Tune: The Farmer in the Dell
We're flying off to space
We're flying off to space
I think we'll see the moon out there
We're flying off to space
We're flying off to space
We're flying off to space
I think we'll see some planets out there
We're flying off to space
We're flying off to space
We're flying off to space
I think we'll see some stars out there
We're flying off to space
We're flying off to space
We're flying off to space
I think we'll see some aliens out there
We're flying off to space

Five little men in a flying saucer,
Flew round the world one day,
They looked left and right,
But they didn't like the sight,
So, one man flew away
Four little men in a flying saucer,
Flew round the world one day,
They looked left and right,
But they didn't like the sight,
So, one man flew away
Three little men in a flying saucer,
Flew round the world one day,
They looked left and right,
But they didn't like the sight,
So, one man flew away
Two little men in a flying saucer,
Flew round the world one day,
They looked left and right,
But they didn't like the sight,
So, one man flew away
One little man in a flying saucer,
Flew round the world one day,
They looked left and right,
But he didn't like the sight,
So, then he flew away
So, then he flew away

Five Little Aliens
Five little aliens went out to play,

No little aliens went out to play,
over the moon to the milky way.
Father alien went hep, hep, hep,
and 5 little aliens came floating back!
